Recommended Bidding Strategy

Choosing the right bidding strategy is crucial for the success of your campaigns on SolAds. In this guide, we explain why sticking to minimum bids isn't always the best choice — and how you can optimize your bidding approach for long-term, stable results.

Why Minimum Bids Can Hurt Your Performance

Especially for Native Ads, your ad's ranking isn't determined by the bid alone. The Click-Through Rate (CTR) plays a crucial role. Together, your bid and CTR form the eCPMi (effective cost per 1,000 impressions weighted by CTR).

The higher your eCPMi, the better your ad's position in the ranking and the more visibility your campaign receives. Starting with a low bid might result in placements with low traffic or less engaged users, harming your CTR. This reduces your eCPMi and makes it difficult for your campaign to stay competitive - especially on highly contested placements or when inventory is limited.

Our Recommended Approach

  • Start with above-average bids for new Native campaigns to secure better positions and gather strong CTR data early on.
  • Once the campaign shows stable, competitive CTR values, gradually reduce your bids while closely monitoring performance.
  • For Banner campaigns (bidding on CPM), higher bids still make sense - premium positions can deliver significantly better results.

Key Takeaways

  • 📈 A higher bid combined with strong CTR improves your eCPMi and ranking position.
  • 🎯 Avoid minimum bids when launching new Native campaigns.
  • 📊 Monitor CTR, eCPMi and ROI, and optimize based on real-time performance.
  • 💻 Test and adjust - performance varies depending on placement and audience.
